The specialists at Hera HRI all have extensive experience in the hospitality sector. In addition, each has his / her specific competences and they have been working together in different compositions for many years.
The team
Larissa Esser
Managing Partner
Larissa’s strong bond with the hotel industry comes from her education in hotel management followed by operational experience at various international hotel and restaurant chains. After obtaining her MBA from a prestigious university, she switched to the financial and real estate side of the business, and gained a great deal of international experience as a hotel broker, financial adviser, and real estate investment banker at various multi-national organizations.
Larissa has a very broad network and is a specialist in joint venture constructions, fundraising, and debt financing.
John Stoffers
Director of Finance
John has more than 30 years of experience as a business analyst, controller, finance director, and CFO. He learnt the tricks of the trade in various hotel chains and in the high-tech sector.
With wide-ranging interests and with a strong affiliation with operations, he knows how to seamlessy combine his expertise in financial management, legal affairs, and IT/systems with his social skills.
Wouter Dekker
Development Director
‘Mindset’ is a term that Wouter may very well have coined. He has worked in management positions for various hotels and gained a lot of experience in project development and distilling good product/market combinations.
As a general manager, he is commercially successful and comes up with unusual and exceptional concepts.
Bas Tolmeijer
Founding Partner
After a long career as a senior manager in the international hotel industry, Bas founded his first company around 20 years ago. As a consultant, he advised dozens of companies, developed hospitality projects, and reorganized hotels. In 2005, together with Willem-Jan and Francesco, he laid the foundation for what would eventually grow into one of the largest Dutch hotel companies, Apollo Hotels, which was successfully sold in 2018.
He specializes in the fields of operational and financial analysis, asset management and general management.
Willem-Jan van den Dijssel
Founding Partner
For almost fifty years, Willem-Jan has been in the business as a general manager of hotels and CEO of listed hotel chains. He has been chairman of the board of directors of an international e-commerce company, a partner at a corporate finance firm and interim CEO of the only Dutch state-owned gambling company.
Willem-Jan’s forte is the field of problem analysis, financial solutions, and asset management. He also develops successful and creative food and beverage formulas.
Francesco Monaco
Founding Partner
With traditional training at hotel school under his belt and with a love of cuisine, Francesco has evolved to become a commercial leader and specialist in sales and marketing strategies.
As a commercial director, he travelled the world for various hotel groups, after which he began a career as an entrepreneur together with Bas two decades ago. A few years later, he and his partners bought their first hotel and expanded the business into becoming a successful chain.
Martijn Hermus
Partner
After completing his law studies at the University of Leiden Martijn started as an attorney in 2001 and has been an attorney for 20 years, most recently as a partner at a renowned US law firm. He is a specialist in M&A, Private Equity, corporate law and real estate and worked on many cross-border and often high profile transactions. In 2018 he advised the founding partners of Hera on their successful sale of the Apollo hotel group. Martijn has a broad network in the corporate and financial world. A practical no nonsense and always focused approach characterizes Martijn.
